On October 23 & 24, 2017, the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, SOBE’s Department of Human Enterprise and Innovation, and Open Learning are hosting two days of activities and sharing in a fun and informal atmosphere
We will have sessions stressing authentic learning, with hands-on opportunities for fun.  We hope you can join us whether for a single workshop, a few sessions, or the entire event.

**A special workshop called Creativity at a Distance involves opportunities to participate before, during and after the Workshop from anywhere. We hope you will join us October 24th**

Visiting Guests:

Christina Hendricks,Professor of Teaching & Deputy Academic Director of the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology, UBC.

Christina  is a Professor of Teaching in Philosophy and the Deputy Academic Director of the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. She has been a practitioner of and advocate for open education in multiple ways, including as a BCcampus Open Textbook Faculty Fellow and an OER Research Fellow with the Open Education Group. She started picking back up on drawing recently because she finds it an engaging way to express meaning and take notes, and she shares her drawings and sketch notes publicly on social media to force herself to get over the “I suck at drawing” feeling.

Rajiv Jhangiani, University Teaching Fellow & Psychology Instructor, Kwantlen Polytechnic University & Open Education Advisor, BCcampus

Rajiv is a psychologist and an advocate, researcher, and practitioner of open education. A former Open Learning Faculty Member at TRU and workshop facilitator for the Open Textbook Network, he believes that open pedagogy can enhance both access and agency, serving both social justice and pedagogical innovation. A former professional dancer, you will find Rajiv in cricket whites during the summer months and fighting white walkers during the winter.

Laura Ritchie, Professor of Learning and Teaching, University of Chichester

Laura is a teacher, researcher, performer, and learner whose enthusiasm is contagious and she inspires people to realise their goals through positive achievement.  Her musical performances range from playing classical cello concertos, to an appearance with a pop band on Jools Holland, to stretching her own understanding of capabilities when she sang a reggae song, performed in a racquet ball court for the Asst. Dean at UCLA.

Sherri is a communication enthusiast who is excited about exploring new avenues of sharing ideas with any and all interested parties. Listening is literally and figuratively my lifeline and if I don’t share that wholeheartedly with the world, then what’s the point?

Autumm Caines

Autumm is a leader, educator, technologist, and designer who is passionate about many subjects at the intersection of education and technology including: digital citizenship, connected learning, and open educational practices.

Clare Thomson

Clare is a full time educational technologist and part time distance student. Sneaking creativity into the medical curriculum in any way possible. Student engagement, well designed spaces and open education practice are at the core of her work and reflections on these and more are found below (always more questions asked than answered).
